Falling off the wagon…and then getting run over by it!

So since my last post in September, I have grown not in any way that is remarkable, no I have just grown rounder.  I have gained back 7 of the 17 lbs I lost last year.  But the suckiest part of not working out is losing my fitness.  I miss being strong and surprisingly flexible.  I didn’t even do a run down of the race…that is ridiculous.  I am happy to say I am back and surly.  Stay tuned for more.

She fell off the wagon too.

Official week one?

So when I began training I had calculated an extra 2 weeks worth of training in for good measure.  You see I have yet to train correctly for an event and I am going to do everything in my power to do as well as I can in the Trail of 2 Cities half marathon.  “Absolutely no regrets.”

This weekend I was visiting family which can only mean one thing, lots of food.  It was a girl only weekend and we ate falelfal, tomato, and cucumber on Friday night.  Then I ate my usual breakfast the next day, and some pasta for lunch but for dinner oh my, I made a dish of polenta, sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, shallots and a little beef.  It was heavenly.  The next day I ate my usual breakfast, leftover polenta for lunch and chicken and rice for dinner.  So good.

Monday was a rest day for me, good thing, I was exhausted from travel and working out on Sunday, and also because some stole my bike out of my patio.  I am so disgusted with where I live now that I am so happy to be moving.  This was a one of a kind bike, vintage, custom, in other words, irreplaceable!

Here’s a pic of it if you see someone riding it punch them in the face and call me-559-802-0237

Weigh-in Wednesday

So yesterday was a weigh-in day and my internet was down, but I am back.  I weighed in at 157.2 and I am pretty excited because I was expected a higher number.  I am off to my aunt’s house tomorrow which usually means a weight gain but I will try my best but she is a really good cook.  Today’s workout was hard, I did 1.5 miles slower than race pace, 4 miles at race pace, and another 1.5 miles as cool down.  I took some new pics and I hope to put them over the next few days.  Here’s today’s photo:

On the run..

 Tomorrow’s Training Activity:

45 minutes easy cardio

Oh Yeah!

I had the greatest class ever today, my ballet teacher is fantastic.  She is nice, and funny and I love her.  Plus the class is so cheap.  Awesome blossom!  I worked on the treadmill and tried out the book on the Ipod and it was a good idea but the book is way dumb but with right book  I may have something there.  I had a bit of a long day but tomorrow will be easier with an easy workout.

Tomorrow’s Training Activity:

45 minutes of easy cardio-I will probably hike Woodward Park. FUN

Hitting the Barre

So if you don’t know me or have not read my “Hello World” Post, you may not know that in my past life I was a dance student.  From the early age of 3 til my graduation from community college with a degree in dance, I have been dancing.  Well because of my vocation vacation I am taking a ballet class tomorrow morning and I am soooooo excited.  There is something so satisfying about ballet and the way it opens up your body and brings your range into a new arena.  I can’t help but think about how great it will feel to really stretch.  Hmmm.  So today’s rest day wasn’t really too restful after all, I ran errands and cooked fajitas for dinner.  Yumm.  Tomorrow’s going to kick some major ass and I mean ass.

Tomorrow’s Training Activity:

Track Run-3X1000m and 400m cool down

*****1000 meters is 2.5 times around an average track*****

Week One Wrap-Up

So I just completed my Sunday workout and I am happy tomorrow is a rest day.  I did my hour and 15 minutes of walking and I have never really liked the long workout days but I know that they are very necessary.  In order to do well in the Trail of 2 Cities, I have got to put in the work.  I added up the miles for the week and the grand total is: 19.82!!!!!

Woohoo.

So here’s today’s picture:

Burn Baby, Burn!

Yesterday was a tempo run, and what a workout it was.  I was supposed to do 7 miles total but I forgot the machine was on manual and that means it only runs for 99 minutes.  I needed about 5 more minutes.  It was so sad to get to 6.61 miles and have the machine kick the cool-down on without my consent, arrg.  I have to say though that it felt great and I burnt 630 calories.  It got a little boring but I got an idea to load a book onto my ipod and listen to it.  Anyway I am going to swim for an hour or so today to get a little variety in.  I am getting excited about training and that is a good sign I think.

Tomorrow’s Training Activity

LONG RUN –75mins total-15 easy warm-up, 45 fast mins, 15 cool-down mins.
